Deputy CM criticizes opposition for remarks on July 13 Martyrs

Jammu, Mar 05 (KINS): Deputy Chief Minister , Surinder Kumar Chaudhary, on Wednesday criticized the opposition for its remarks on July 13 martyrs, calling their language inappropriate.

“Martyrs should be respected, no matter which community they belong to. They fought for upholding democracy, safeguarding the Constitution, and protecting the rights of the people,” Chaudhary stated, emphasizing the need to honor those who made sacrifices for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

His comments come amid an ongoing political debate in the Assembly regarding historical decisions and the legacy of Jammu and Kashmir’s erstwhile rulers.

Taking a dig at the opposition BJP leaders, Chaudhary questioned their selective praise for the region’s past rulers.

“If these people love the Maharaja so much, why did the BJP abrogate Article 370 and 35(A), which were granted by Maharaja Hari Singh? Why did they strip the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir into two Union Territories? Why don’t they speak about this?” he asked.(KINS)
