Grand Mufti condemns ‘obscene’ fashion show at Gulmarg, calls for ban on alcohol
KINS Desk
Srinagar, March 10 (KINS): Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, has strongly condemned a fashion show held in Gulmarg, terming it “defamatory” and against the cultural ethos of Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference, Mufti Nasir according to news agency KINS criticized both the Government of India and the Jammu and Kashmir administration for their silence on the issue. “Kashmir is the land of Sufis, and such acts will not be allowed here. This event has disrespected the holy month of Ramadhan,” he said.
The Grand Mufti also urged legislators to pass a bill in the ongoing assembly session to impose a ban on alcohol in the region. “If MLAs fail to act, I request people to socially boycott them,” he added. (KINS)
