Congress launches hunger strike in Srinagar for restoration of J&K Statehood

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Aug 09 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) headed by President Tariq Karra began a hunger strike in Srinagar on Saturday, demanding the restoration of J&K’s statehood.

News agency KINS reported that senior party leaders, including AICC general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir and party MLAs, also joined the protest at the party’s M.A. Road office.

The strike is part of the Congress campaign “Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq”, calling for reversal of the 2019 decision that downgraded J&K into two Union Territories and abrogated Articles 370 and 35A. A similar protest will be held in Jammu.

Karra said the agitation will continue across districts from August 9 to 21 and warned of a new programme if no progress is made during the ongoing Parliament session.(KINS)
