Schools in Jammu division to stay shut tomorrow; safety checks made mandatory

Jammu, Sept 01(KINS): The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced that all schools across Jammu Division will remain closed till September 2 due to the prevailing weather and flood situation.

The DSEJ has instructed Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to ensure that no school damaged in the recent floods is reopened without a thorough structural safety inspection.

The order emphasized that the safety of students and staff is the top priority. Schools located in unsafe or waterlogged buildings must remain closed until certified safe for use.

News agency KINS reported that institutions have been asked to work with local authorities and communities to make temporary arrangements in community halls, panchayat ghars, or religious places if necessary.

Heads of schools and principals have also been directed to personally check premises and allow classes only after ensuring complete safety and preparedness.(KINS)
