DC Srinagar nominates nodal officers for flood relief Centres amid inclement weather

Srinagar, Sept 03 (KINS): In view of the prevailing inclement weather and to ensure effective implementation of the Flood Evacuation-cum-Relief Plan, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Srinagar, Akshay Labroh (IAS), has issued Order No. 139-DCS of 2025 nominating nodal officers for various relief centres across the district.

According to the order as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Planning Officer Srinagar (9906816800), and Irfan Bahadur (JKAS), Sub-Divisional Magistrate West Srinagar (9419012110/990660055), will act as the overall district-level nodal officers from the Srinagar administration. Additionally, Suhail-ut-Islam, Secretary Srinagar Municipal Corporation (7006305727), has been designated as the nodal officer from SMC.

The relief centres, identified at various locations including Peerzoo Island, Rajbagh, Lasjan, Padashabagh, Gandbal, Palpora, , will be manned by senior officers from different line departments.

“This step has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure preparedness in the wake of the rising water levels and to provide immediate assistance to affected families if the situation demands,” an official from the district administration told news agency KINS.

The DC further emphasized close coordination among departments, prompt response to public needs, and strict adherence to the flood management plan for Srinagar district.(KINS)
