SSP Handwara Chairs Crime & Security Review Meeting at DPO Handwara

Handwara, Sept 08 (KINS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary (JKPS), chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at the District Police Office, Handwara. The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Handwara, SDPOs, SHOs, DOs, and investigating officers of the district.

During the session, a detailed review of crime records, law and order measures, and security preparedness was undertaken. SSP Handwara stressed on effective investigation, with special focus on action against the terror ecosystem. He directed officers to adopt a proactive strategy for cracking down on terrorist entities and overground workers, including identification and attachment of properties under UAPA provisions.

The SSP also highlighted the need for speedy disposal of inquest proceedings and pending cases, ensuring merit-based and time-bound investigations with accountability fixed at every stage.

Addressing the growing challenge of narcotics, he underscored the importance of sustained action against drug peddlers and habitual offenders to safeguard society and protect youth from the menace. He further instructed officers to ensure quality investigations, timely filing of charge-sheets, and effective follow-up in courts to secure convictions.

On strengthening police-public relations, SSP Handwara emphasized people-friendly policing, grievance redressal, and community-centric initiatives. He also made a thorough assessment of the overall security situation in the district to devise preventive measures for maintaining peace and stability.

In his concluding remarks, the SSP urged officers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and commitment in policing, ensure strict adherence to law and accountability mechanisms, and enhance coordination among police units for better results.(KINS)
