JKSA takes up Kaithal Harassment of Kashmiri shawl vendor with Haryana CM’s Office

Srinagar, Dec 27 (KINS): The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Saturday took up the matter of alleged harassment of a Kashmiri shawl seller in Kaithal, Haryana, with the Chief Minister’s Office, demanding immediate intervention and strict action.

In a statement the JKSA said that its National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, spoke to the Media Advisor to the Chief Minister of Haryana, Rajeev Jaitly, and requested his immediate intervention in the matter.

Responding to Khuehami, Jaitly assured that such acts of violence and intimidation against Kashmiri shawl sellers will not be tolerated at any cost and that strict action will be taken against those involved. Strict action will be taken in connection with the incident that occurred in Kaithal, Kurukshetra area of Haryana, he said.

He further conveyed that the Haryana Chief Minister is committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of all citizens, including traders and workers from Jammu & Kashmir.

Khuehami has also urged the Haryana government to ensure the prompt registration of a case and swift action against the culprits. “These shawl vendors are hardworking citizens who travel across the country to earn an honest livelihood.

Targeting them, abusing them, and then conveniently branding them as ‘anti-nationals’ is not only unjust but an affront to our Constitution and the idea of India, The safety and dignity of Kashmiri traders must be protected, and the rule of law must prevail, he added further.
