High chances of Snowfall in Kashmir on New Year: Sonam Lotus

Srinagar, Dec 29 (KINS): Meteorologist Sonam Lotus on Monday said there is a high probability of snowfall in most parts of Kashmir and the hilly areas of the Jammu division around the New Year.

According to Sonam Lotus, most areas of Kargil district are likely to witness snowfall, while some parts of Leh district may also receive snow.

He said that large parts of the Kashmir Valley, along with the hilly regions of Jammu, are expected to experience snowfall during this period.

The expected weather activity may lead to a significant drop in temperatures, especially in higher reaches.

Residents and tourists have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in snow-prone and mountainous areas, as travel disruptions and slippery road conditions cannot be ruled out.

Authorities have also been urged to stay prepared for weather-related challenges, while people planning New Year travel in the affected regions are advised to follow official advisories and updates. (KINS)
