Srinagar, Apr 17 (KINS): Continuing its drive against illegal activities, Police in Pulwama foiled a timber smuggling bid by arresting two persons involved in the crime.
Acting on specific and reliable information about illegal timber smuggling in the Sangerwani area, a police party conducted a raid at Inderwali. During the raid, three individuals — Zaffar Hussain Khatana, son of Bashir Ahmad Khatana; Mukhtar Ahmad Bhomla, son of Mohammad Hussain Bhomla; and Imtiyaz Ahmad Poswal, son of Mohammad Amin Poswal, all residents of Sangerwani — were allegedly found keeping wooden timber beams on the roadside and attempting to transport them illegally.
During the operation, two accused, Zaffar Hussain Khatana and Mukhtar Ahmad Bhomla, were arrested on the spot. However, the third accused, Imtiyaz Ahmad Poswal, managed to flee. Efforts are underway to arrest the absconding accused.
Police seized six wooden timber beams from the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 60/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, and further investigation has been taken up.
Police reiterated its commitment to act firmly against illegal activities and urged the general public to cooperate by sharing information about such unlawful practices.(KINS)
