Srinagar, Oct 22 (KINS) Senior BJP leader Ashok Koul on Thursaday said that his age and health were the main reasons behind his decision to step away from his responsibilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at an event in Srinagar, Koul said he had worked with two organisations during his 42-year career, from 1985 to 2026, including 14 years with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He said he had requested the party to relieve him of his responsibilities and thanked the BJP leadership for accepting his request.
Koul said he would continue to contribute to the organisation and support party workers as much as his health permits. He added that he had never joined the BJP to seek a position or become an MLA, stressing that his focus had always been on organisational work.
Describing the BJP as a cadre-based party, Koul expressed confidence in its organisational strength and said it could help the party perform better in future elections in Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
