Shopian, Oct 30 (KINS): Shopian Police on Friday claimed to have busted an alleged jail-linked terror financing module operating across Jammu and Kashmir, with 10 persons arrested in connection with a suspected network involved in funding terrorist activities.

According to a police statement, the module was exposed during an investigation into suspicious online financial transactions carried out through various digital payment platforms.

The analysis of money trails allegedly led investigators to a wider network of individuals suspected of having links with terrorists and their associates lodged in different jails.

Police said a case, FIR No. 231/2026, has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant sections of law.

The arrested persons as per police have been identified as Owais Shafi Naikoo, son of Mohammad Shafi Naikoo, resident of Saidpora Bala, Shopian; Tajamul Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Rashid Shah, resident of Rawalpora, Shopian; Moiz Iqbal, son of Mohammad Iqbal Hajam, resident of Chitragam Kalan; Imdad Yousuf Ganie, son of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, resident of Chitragam Kalan; Saqib Zahoor Wani, son of Zahoor Ahmad Wani, resident of Murran, Pulwama; Aamir Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie, resident of Armolah, Pulwama; Firdous Thokar, son of Ghulam Qadir Thokar, resident of Nadigund, Trenz; Liyaqat Nazir Lone, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone, resident of Murran, Pulwama; Mohd Hanief, son of Kaju Sheru, resident of Check Haria, Kathua; and Kaju, son of Haji Sheeru, resident of Check Haria, Kathua.

Police claimed that preliminary investigations had revealed that the accused were allegedly collecting money from the public and channelising it through established financial networks to support the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF).

According to the police, the funds were allegedly being used to provide financial and logistical assistance to terrorist operatives, including the procurement of smartphones to facilitate their activities.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the suspected network, trace additional financial transactions and establish the involvement of more individuals. They added that further arrests could not be ruled out. (KINS)
