Intermittent rain, thundershowers likely in J&K till July 2

Srinagar, June 24 (KINS): The Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued a fresh weather advisory predicting intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers across parts of Jammu and Kashmir until July 2.

According to MeT officials, the weather on June 24 is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with the possibility of brief showers and thundershowers at scattered locations.

From June 25 to 27, the region is likely to witness generally cloudy skies accompanied by intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the Jammu division, which may trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable regions. Low-lying areas in the Jammu plains may experience waterlogging, while rivers and local streams are expected to witness a rise in water levels.

Between June 28 and 30, intermittent rain and thundershowers are expected at scattered places across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

From July 1 to 2, the MeT department has forecast the continuation of scattered rainfall and thundershowers.

Farmers have been advised to suspend irrigation activities, pesticide spraying, and fertilizer applications until July 2 due to the prevailing and forecasted weather conditions.(KINS)
