Srinagar, Oct 17 (KINS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir will hold a series of programmes — including unity marches, seminars, debates, and nukkad nataks — across the region to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
Announcing the events at a press conference held at the BJP party office in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, Baldev Singh Billawaria, General Secretary of BJP Jammu & Kashmir, was accompanied by Sajid Yousuf Shah, Co-Incharge BJP Media J&K, and Salinder Singh, BJP Office Secretary Kashmir.
Paying rich tributes to Sardar Patel, Billawaria underscored the continuing relevance of his vision in contemporary India. He announced that a “Unity March” (Ekta Yatra) will be organized across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, engaging youth, party workers, and civil society members to promote the ideals of unity, nationalism, and integrity.
“Sardar Patel laid the foundation of a united India by integrating more than 560 princely states. His vision and courage built the India we know today. It is our duty to carry forward his legacy of unity and national integration,”
— Baldev Singh Billawaria, BJP J&K General Secretary
Billawaria highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has reinvigorated Sardar Patel’s legacy — notably through the creation of the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world.
He added that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed historic transformation in recent years, reflecting Patel’s spirit of national unity and inclusive development. “The ideals of Sardar Patel live on in our efforts to ensure peace, progress, and integration of every region and community,” he said.
Speaking about the upcoming Unity March, Billawaria said the BJP will mobilize workers across both urban and rural areas to spread the message of harmony and nationalism. He emphasized the need to leverage media and digital platforms to reach the youth and deepen awareness of Sardar Patel’s contributions.
Reaffirming the BJP cadre’s resolve, he concluded, “We remain committed to upholding national unity and serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir with dedication, honesty, and transparency.”(KINS)
