Baramulla, May 08 (KINS): Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking and related illegal activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Police in Baramulla, in coordination with Revenue authorities and the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), carried out action against individuals involved in narcotics-related offences in the Tangmarg area.
During a joint operation at Ferozpora Tangmarg, a shop belonging to alleged drug peddler Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Majid Mir and a resident of Ferozpora Tangmarg, was demolished by police and revenue officials. The action is part of the intensified campaign aimed at dismantling the infrastructure supporting drug trafficking networks and sending a strong message against the drug menace.
In a separate action, North Wind Cafe, an outsourced property of the GDA, was sealed by the Chief Executive Officer of GDA. The lessee of the property, identified as Yaseen Khanday, is an accused in an NDPS case registered at Police Post Wagoora.
Officials stated that the entire jurisdiction of Police Station Gulmarg falls on GDA land, and the properties operating there are situated on government land. Authorities have also initiated further proceedings, including cancellation of the lease allotted to the accused.
Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating drug abuse and narcotics trafficking from society, stating that strict action will continue against drug peddlers and those facilitating the illegal trade to safeguard the youth and ensure a drug-free society.(KINS)
