Indian Army rescues 24 stranded tourists from sunshine peak in Gulmarg

Srinagar, May 08(KINS): Indian Army’s Chinar Warriors, in close coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Police, District Administration Baramulla and the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), successfully rescued 24 tourists stranded at Sunshine Peak in Gulmarg at an altitude of nearly 14,000 feet.
According to officials, the tourists were stranded after a technical malfunction developed in a civil helicopter that had ferried them to the peak. The situation worsened due to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions, dense cloud cover and the hazardous mountainous terrain.
The rescue operation was led by Army Aviation pilots and aircrew, who displayed exceptional courage and precision while undertaking repeated sorties in adverse weather and poor visibility conditions. Despite the operational challenges, including narrow landing zones, snowbound terrain and rapidly changing climatic conditions, the teams managed to safely evacuate all stranded tourists without any casualty.
The rescue operation was carried out under the supervision of Chinar Warriors in coordination with all concerned agencies.(KINS)
