Srinagar, September 10 (KINS): MLA Budgam Aga Muntazir Mehdi today extended his support to protesting veterinary interns at SKUAST-Kashmir’s Shuhama campus, who are demanding an increase in their monthly stipend.
Speaking to reporters, Mehdi said the government should address the interns’ demands before the upcoming Assembly session. He also expressed support for the demands of MBBS interns and NHM employees, who are also on strike over their long-pending issues.
Mehdi said that if the government fails to address the concerns, he will raise the issues in the Assembly and press for their resolution.
“If the government fails to redress these demands, we will raise the issues in the Assembly and compel the government to take steps towards resolving them,” he said.
The protest by veterinary interns entered its fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The interns are demanding an increase in their monthly stipend from ₹6,000 to ₹23,000. (KINS)
