Srinagar, Nov 06 (KINS): National Conference MLA from Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Khan, on Friday dismissed speculation about the formation of a separate group within the party, clarifying that the recent gathering of legislators was aimed at discussing their concerns with the party leadership.
Khan said that the legislators met National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss various political and other issues concerning them.
He said the meeting was part of their regular engagement with the party leadership and that both leaders had assured them that their concerns would be addressed.
“Every time, we approach our party leadership with our issues. A few days ago, we were sitting together at one place, and the media projected it as though a separate party had emerged from the National Conference. No new party was formed,” Khan said.
He added that party leadership has assured them that some issues would be resolved immediately, while others would be taken up gradually.
Earlier, Nazir Gurezi had also reiterated that Dr Farooq Abdullah remained their leader and that the legislators would put forward their concerns before him.
The MLA maintained that the legislators had no intention of forming a separate political platform and that their efforts were focused on resolving internal issues through discussions with the party leadership.(KINS)
