PSA on Yasin Malik, Jama’at ban:Hurriyat (G) protests in Srinagar, Budgam

SRINAGAR, Mar 15: Hurriyat (g) Conference on Friday staged a protest demonstration at Hyderpora Srinagar and Budgam, against the slapping of PSA on Muhammad Yasin Malik and others leaders, sending the summon to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Naseem Geelani by NIA, the spree of mass arrests and ban on politico-religious organization Jamaat-I-Islami. The spokesman said that Hurriyat organized a peaceful protest at Hyderpora Srinagar and besides large number of people and leadership including Molvi Bashir Irfani, Ameer Hamza Shah, Bilal Siddiqui, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Imran Ahmad Bhat, Haji Qadous, Zahoor-ul-Haq Geelani, Mohammad Rafiq Shah and other participated, while as Aga Syed Akeel Mouswi organized a protest rally in Budgam, which was scheduled to be headed by Aga Syed Hassan Mouswi, but he was put under house arrest by the police.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (g) Conference, Syed Ali Geelani in a statement expressed his grave concern over the increasing “highhandedness” in the state including civilians including pro-freedom leadership and activists. He expressed his deep concern over the unabated arrests and detention of 14 civilians of Ratnipora Pulwama, slapping the PSA on Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Jamaat-e-Islami activists.

Geelani also condemned the “terror” attack on the twin mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, wherein 40 people got killed. He termed it a heinous and brutal act not only against the Muslims, but whole humanity and anybody with a human heart will find his words insufficient in condemning this barbaric act. In a statement, Hurriyat chairman said that we as a nation sympathize with the family of those who were killed or injured and shares their grief from the inner core of our heart.
