Security tightened in Valley ahead of January 26

Former militants, stone-pelters being monitored keenly: Sources

Srinagar/ 24 January 2020 : To maintain close vigil upon suspicious and shady elements ahead of January 26, security agencies have mounted its arrangements in Srinagar and other parts of Valley to celebrate Republic Day function peacefully. Besides employing sharp shooters, security agencies have put in place electronic and digital gazettes at sensitive areas to eye over the developments around the locations where Republic Day functions to be celebrated.

According to news agency security forces have made exemplary arrangements in Srinagar and other parts of Valley ahead of January 26. Sources told that to maintain close vigil upon suspicious elements who have potential to trigger trouble ahead of January 26, security agencies have been given tough directions to accelerate their patrolling in sensitive areas.

They said top officials of security agencies have been given task to don’t let any element to create trouble in Valley ahead of Republic Day when Tri-color is being unfurled at all district headquarters by civil and security officials.

They also said security agencies recently conducted a crucial meeting wherein top officials of the security grid was given strict directions while handling with anti-peace elements.

Sources said that security officials were given clear directions that “Don’t let anybody to instigate violence or create trouble ahead of January 26””.

They added during the meeting it was decided that ahead of Republic Day security agencies will take utmost care of law and order in J&K and will restore all electronic and digital gazettes to keep eye on suspicious elements.

According to sources, Police, CRPF and other agencies were given task to employ sharp shooters in and around the locations where Tri-color to be unfurled on January 26. They said security agencies have been given directed to restart all CCTV’s which have been installed in sensitive locations of Srinagar and other parts of Valley to keep eye on suspicious elements particularly stone throwers and former militants.

They further stated CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police have particularly given task to upgrade their record regarding former militants and stone pelters whose cases stands registered in police records.

Meanwhile authorities have tightened security arrangements across Kashmir Valley ahead of January 26. Inter-districts and intra-district roads witnesses heavy deployment of forces who have erected barricades at several locations where vehicles are being thoroughly frisked.
