RAHIM Greens Qualify for Quarterfinals in Khrew Premier League-II

Khrew Pulwama, 25 July: Continuing with their supreme form, Rahim Greens Cricket Club [RGCC] registered their second consecutive win in the second edition of Khrew Premier League (KPL), beating Shar XI comfortably by three wickets.

Sajad won his second consecutive player of the award by claiming three wickets and finishing the game in style with a monstrous six.

Earlier, Shar won the toss and elected to bat first but were stunned by the deadly opening spell of Ranji cricketer Samiullah Beigh and Sajad Ahmed.

The duo reduced Shar to 28/3 in the first power play. Later Mujtaba Rizvi weaved magic with his leg-spin, taking another four-for.

Shar were reduced to 84/7 in 16 overs. Samiullah, Sajad, Mujtaba, Gowhar Geelani, Tajamul all bowled well to restrict Shar to 119, bowling their opponents out inside 20 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 120, RGCC lost young opening batsman Tawqeer was adjudged lbw in the first over of the match but Ashu and Sauleh led a counter attack to take their team to 50 runs inside the power play. After Ashu got out, Mukarram played a cameo of 16 runs while Sauleh scored a polished 38 in 24 balls. Afterwards, RGCC lost Mukarram, young Jubair, Samiullah and Mujtaba in no time but Sajad and Tajamul ensured there were no nerves . They finished the game in style. This way, RGCC won their two matches in succession and qualified for the next stage, quarterfinals, with a game to go in the league stage.
