Militant killed in Brief shootout in Kulgam

Srinagar, March 16: A militant was killed in a Brief encounter with goverment forces at Kujar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Reports reaching news agency  said that a joint team of army and SOG launched cordon at Kujar, Yaripora village.

A police officer told news agency that the cordon was launched following credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As such the joint team fired some warning towards the suspected spot the hiding militants opened fire amid tried to break the cordon.

However joint team engaged the militants in a gunfight.

He said that during the initial exhcange of firing one militant has been killed and his identity is being ascertained, the officer said, adding the search operation is still going on in the area.(GNS)
