Missing youth’s body found in Shopian, murder suspected

 Srinagar, May 5 : More than a fortnight after he went missing, police has found the body of a 28-year-old man from a Nallah in Reshinagri area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.

The body bearing torture marks was recovered by the police on the information received by it, an official said.

A police officer while confirming it identified the deceased as Rayees Ahmad Mir (28) son of Ghulam Mohammad of Vehil village in Shopian. He said that Rayees was missing since last 18 days.

“Prima facie it seems the man has been murdered and we are working on some leads and the case will be cracked soon. Those behind this murder will be dealt as per law,” the officer said.

He said that the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs for last rites after conducting all legal medico formalities.

“Once the postmortem will come and further details regarding the incident would be shared accordingly,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, hospital and family sources said that the body of the deceased wore torture marks on body parts which is clear indication that the man has been murdered. (GNS)
