Gunfight rages in Pulwama village

Pulwama, Jun 14 : A gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama village on Friday morning.

Reports reaching said encounter started between militants and forces at Brobanduna (Sangam)area of Pulwama district.

A police officer also confirmed and said a joint team of forces including Army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific information about the presence of militants inside a residential house in the area.

Officer said that as soon as forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon them triggering an encounter.

Exchange of firing in the area was on when last reports came in.
