74 stolen vehicle batteries recovered & 03 accused arrested

Awantipora Police recovered 74 vehicle batteries stolen from the Awantipora market and arrested 03 accused persons in the said incident. During the intervening night of 15/16th ,Feb,2020 theft took place in the shop owned by one Lukbeer Singh  in which 74 vehicle batteries were stolen from the shop of the said person. Accordingly case FIR No.18/2020 U/S 457,380 IPC was registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation set into motion. During the investigation many suspects were called for questioning and after strenuous efforts put in by the Awantipora Police, on 3rd of Feb,2020, during Naka at Barsoo Awantipora, one Taveera vehicle bearing Reg. No.PB01A-2331 was intercepted in which 03 persons including driver were boarded. During search of the vehicle 05 batteries were found in the vehicle, the persons boarding in the vehicle were enquired about the batteries but they failed to produce any satisfactory justification about the batteries. All the 03 persons were taken into custody U/S 54 Cr.PC for questioning. During questioning they confessed that they had committed the crime during the intervening night of 15/16th,Feb,2020 and have utilized one more Taveera vehicle bearing Reg No.JK01X-5968 for commission of the crime. During course of investigation all stolen 74 batteries were recovered and handed over to rightful owner as per court orders, while as 02 vehicles which have been utilized for commission of crime have also been seized and all 03 involved accused persons namely (1) Mohammad Amin Khan R/O Tulbagh Pampore (2) Mohammad Younis Wagay  & (3)  Feroz Ahmad Rather were arrested who are presently on Police remand and investigation of the case is going on.
