Appoint nodal officer for stranded J&K students in Country’s parts, or airlift them: Altaf Thakur


‘Dozens of Kashmiri students stranded in various parts of country facing immense issues’


Srinagar, March 26: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Thursday urged the Union Territory administration to immediately look into the serious issue of stranded students studying in various parts of country by advocating appointment of a nodal officer who would stay in touch with these students or else a “mechanism be evolved” to air lift these students in army choppers forthwith.


In a statement issued here, Thakur said that he has been receiving hundreds of phone calls from various students, who are studying in various colleges, and universities across India who are in deep state of frustration and shock as they are stranded there without proper food and other essentials. “Students from Glocal University Saharanpur where five students from Kashmir are stranded and need immediate help,” Thakur said.


He said that similarly there are dozens of Kashmiri students stranded in various that include Dehradun, Chandigarh and other parts, who are facing immense problems. “They told me that they are ready to remain quarantined for 14 days in Kashmir, but they should be airlifted without any further delay. If that’s not possible, government should appointment a nodal officer who would look into their grievances without any more delay,” he said.
