Geelani’s resignation: Hurriyat irrelevant now, all sources of funds, Hawala channels stopped, Says Altaf Thakur

Srinagar, June 29 (KINS): Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur while welcoming the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani’s decision of parting ways from the Hurriyat, said that the fact of the matter is that “separatist politics stands rejected in Kashmir and Hurriyat is no more relevant after August 5 historic decision of Government of India.”

In a statement issued here, Thakur said that it was a timely decision and announcement of the aged leader to quit Hurriyat. “This is beyond doubt that Hurriyat is irrelevant now. All the sources of funds for Hurriyat leaders has stopped since past few years especially after the roll back of Article 370 while as Hawalla channels, that was the main source of funding the survival for the Hurriyat have got choked due to timely action of Government of India and its premier agency NIA,” Thakur said.

He said that since oxygen in the form of Hawala money has stopped for the Hurriyat, frustration is visible and the result too is in front of Public. He said now Hurriyat leaders who had been projecting Azadi stand irrelevant and have no faith and trust among the public. “Similarly, others who used to befool people on the slogans of self-rule and autonomy too are grounded today,” he said.

The BJP leader said that August 5 changed the entire discourse and ended separatist and secessionist thoughts in Kashmir once forever. “Hurriyat’s politics of deceit has ended and they are no more stakeholders as they would claim falsely,” Thakur said.

Referring to the tweet of Geelani, that the “Kashmir movement” was now a movement for drugs and Pakistan interests, Thakur said that truth has finally come to fore that who was pushing Kashmir youth towards drugs and hell. “Pakistan has been promoting narco trade in Kashmir and involving youth in large numbers towards drug abuse thereby ruining their lives. This is beyond doubt now as Geelani himself has admitted it,” Thakur said.
