Srinagar, Dec 01 (KINS): The Department of Health, Bandipora in collaboration with the District Administration today organized a function to observe World Aids Day themed “Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact”.
Addressing the gathering, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad stressed for creating mass awareness regarding HIV/ AIDS and removing the social stigma attached to it.
He called for an increased response and coordinated efforts to move towards ending the HIV epidemic adding that people’s cooperation is essential to beat the colliding epidemics of HIV and COVID-19.
Dr Owais Ahmad on the occasion hailed the efforts of Doctor and healthcare workers for management of COVID-19 Pandemic and impressed upon them to work with more dedication for the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
He also directed the concerned to update the District Task Force for Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) and ensure that all district level officers, line departments and associated people are given information and counseling about AEFI.
The DDC felicitated several workers for their exemplary works during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Highlighting the importance of the day, the Chief Medical Officer Bandipora said that the day is celebrated worldwide to renew efforts to save the lives of patients suffering from dreaded HIV/ AIDS disease.
He said the day reminds us of our duties towards the AIDS patients and we have to adopt a sympathetic and humane approach towards such patients and encourage them to lead a normal life.
Later, DDC participated in a workshop organized by World Health Organisation (WHO) in collaboration with Dy.CMO office Bandipora regarding Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) and Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI). The DDC said everyone should be aware about immunization, and awareness is the key factor in this regard.
CMO Bandipora Dr, Bashir Ahmad Dy. CMO Bandipora Dr. Parvaiza, SMO WHO unit Srinagar Dr. Asik were also present in the workshop.
The program among others was attended by Doctors, Paramedics and other staff of the department wherein experts delivered lectures regarding consequences, prevention and control of AIDS.(KINS)
