Srinagar, Mar 03: In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Wushu sisters Ansa Chishti and Ayeera Chishti Great have brought pride to India, particularly Jammu & Kashmir, by securing gold medals at the Russian Moscow Stars Wushu International Championship, ongoing in Moscow from February 28th to March 5th, 2024.
Competing in the championship in their respective weight categories of 52 and 56, both athletes exhibited exceptional skills to defeat their Russian opponents in the finals, thereby not only making their fans proud but also garnering admiration from the entire sports fraternity of J&K.
For Ayeera, this victory marks her third international medal, having previously clinched gold in Georgia and bronze in the World Championship held in Indonesia. Remarkably, this is her third consecutive medal in international Wushu championships, a feat that underscores her exceptional talent. Furthermore, Ayeera’s nomination for the State Award stands as a testament to her achievements, marking her as the first female Wushu athlete to be shortlisted for this prestigious honor.
Similarly, Ansa adds to her international accolades with her second medal in international Wushu championships, following her silver medal win at the Georgia International Wushu Championship. With this latest triumph, she secures her first gold medal in an international championship.
Both players have established themselves as national champions in their respective weight categories, amassing numerous medals in national championships, further solidifying their status as icons in the world of Wushu.
