Police Arrest Four Drug Peddlers in Budgam and Sopore; Seize Contraband Substances

Srinagar, Sep 07 (KINS):Police have apprehended four drug peddlers in Budgam and Sopore, recovering significant amounts of contraband substances from their possession.
In Budgam, a team from Police Station Khag intercepted three suspicious individuals carrying a nylon bag at a checkpoint in Hardu Suresh, Khag. The suspects, identified as Rayees Ahmed Khan, Irfan Ahmed Dar, and Firdous Ahmad Bhat—all residents of Hardu Suresh Khag—attempted to flee but were detained. During the search, authorities recovered 3 kilograms of poppy straw and 55 grams of charas. A case, FIR No. 66/2024, has been registered at PS Khag, and an investigation is underway.
In Sopore, a police team from Police Post Warpora, led by IC PP Warpora and supervised by SDPO Sopore, arrested Sageer Ahmad Mir of Janwara Sopore at a checkpoint at Janwara Crossing. During the search, 113 grams of charas were found on his person. A case has been filed at Police Station Sopore, and the investigation is in progress.
All arrested individuals have been transferred to their respective police stations. Authorities urge the public to assist in combating drug-related crimes, assuring that stringent actions will be taken against offenders.(KINS)
