Srinagar, Oct 21 (KINS): National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, led by a senior officer, arrived in Gagangir village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district to investigate the brutal terror attack that took place on Sunday, October 20.
The attack claimed the lives of a local doctor and six construction workers when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in the area.
According to preliminary reports, the workers were engaged in infrastructure development as part of the government’s initiative to boost connectivity in the region.
The sudden attack left the community in shock, with locals mourning the loss of their loved ones. The security forces were immediately deployed to secure the area and begin combing operations to trace the attackers.
The NIA, which specializes in probing terror-related incidents, is now spearheading the investigation to determine the identity of the perpetrators and their possible links to larger terror networks. The agency is expected to explore whether the attack was orchestrated by cross-border terror outfits.
Speaking on the incident, officials confirmed that the NIA would conduct a detailed forensic analysis of the site and collect evidence to support the ongoing investigation.
The incident has also sparked condemnation from political leaders across the spectrum, who expressed solidarity with the families of the victims.(KINS)
