Srinagar, Nov 03 (KINS): Senior BJP leader and MLA Sunil Sharma expressed his gratitude and thanked the party leadership for selecting him as the Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
“Humbled and honored to be chosen as the Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble PM Sh narendramodi Ji, Sh.AmitShah Ji, Sh.JPNadda Ji, whole BJP leadership and my fellow MLAs for entrusting me with this responsibility,” Sharma wrote on his social media handle, as per news agency KINS.
The decision was announced during a meeting of the BJP legislative party held this afternoon at Church Lane in Sonwar, Srinagar, which was attended by all 28 BJP MLAs. The meeting was presided over by senior party leaders including Tarun Chugh.
The Meeting also discussed the BJP’s strategic approach for the upcoming Assembly session, beginning tomorrow at the Assembly complex in Srinagar.
In addition, Narender Singh was nominated as the BJP’s candidate for Deputy Speaker. The BJP’s legislative strength stands at 28 members following the recent passing of MLA Devender Rana from Nagrota. As the main opposition, the BJP aims to take a unified stance, addressing key regional issues and strengthening its presence in the Assembly.(KINS)
