Srinagar, Nov 15 ( KINS ) Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference chairman Sajad Lone has criticized the National Conference (NC) for the alleged vagueness in its recent resolution, sparking debate over its intent and wording. Lone questioned why the NC failed to clearly articulate its stance on key issues like Article 370, Article 35A, and the events of August 5, 2019, when Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was revoked.
Accusing the NC of creating confusion, Lone remarked, “Why didn’t they write so in plain English? Are they lacking courage, will, or were the words pre-scripted and authored elsewhere, possibly in Delhi?” He also highlighted the contradictory interpretations of the resolution, with Congress denying it concerns Article 370, while the NC claims it encompasses much more.
Lone suggested the resolution added insult to injury for the people of J&K, calling it a “fixed match” between the BJP and NC. He pointed out that NC had previously warned voters against other parties endorsing the events of August 5, yet failed to bring a strong, unambiguous resolution rejecting those actions during the current assembly session.
Critiquing the use of terms like “special status,” Lone remarked that it lacks constitutional weight, arguing that “folklore parlance and constitutional parlance are two different concepts.” He also questioned Congress’s political strategy in navigating this issue, suggesting they remain oblivious to the dynamics at play.
Lone reaffirmed his party’s commitment to seeking clarity and justice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while calling on other political entities to move beyond symbolic gestures.( KINS )
