Police attach properties worth over Rs 3 Crore of drug peddlers in Srinagar
Srinagar Dec 04 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached properties valued at over ₹3 crore belonging to drug peddlers under the NDPS Act, officials said.
A police spokesperson revealed that a three-storied residential house worth ₹65 lakh, owned by Abdul Ahad Bhat, a resident of Banpora Batamaloo, was attached under Section 68 of the NDPS Act. The action is linked to an FIR (No. 31/2024) registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a significant quantity of narcotics was recovered.
In a separate case, another three-storied residential house in Umer Lane, Azad Basti, valued at ₹2.5 crore and belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, was attached under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act. The accused, Jan Manzoor Bhat, has been implicated in an FIR (No. 35/2024) registered at Police Station Chanapora for allegedly peddling drugs among local youth.
Both properties were reportedly acquired using proceeds from illegal narcotics trade and have been attached pending confirmation from the competent authority under the SAFEMA and NDPSA.
The police further stated that, in compliance with Sections 68(E) and 68(F) of the NDPS Act, the seized properties cannot be transferred, sold, or dealt with without prior authorization from the competent authority. (KINS)
