JAMMU, DECEMBER 07: The Armed Forces Flag Day was observed today in UT of J&K. To mark the occasion, Armed Forces flag was pinned on the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha in Raj Bhavan. The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude and appreciation by contributing to the “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund” to honour the bravery and supreme sacrifice of valiant soldiers, sailors and airmen. He said our Armed Forces have always remained in the forefront, ever ready to serve the Nation with commitment, dedication and ready to render valuable service during natural calamities.
“In Jammu Kashmir, the Army has been playing a crucial role in combating terrorism and providing a secure environment for people, particularly those who live along the borders and in the remote and far-flung areas of the Union Territory.
With the immense contribution of our armed forces, we have entered a historic fast-track path of socio-economic growth and working with dedication to ensure that the fruit of development reach every corner of the Union Territory,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor appealed to the people of the UT of J&K, particularly the privileged sections of society, to donate liberally to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, as a token of remembrance and expression of gratitude.
“I convey my best wishes to all serving and retired Armed Forces personnel and their families on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day,” the Lieutenant Governor further added.
Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director, Sainik Welfare Department, J&K briefed the Lieutenant Governor on various schemes and initiatives for the welfare of Veterans, Veer Naris, dependents and serving Armed Forces personnel.
Col BS Sambyal (Retd.); Col SS Assla (Retd.); Col MS Bhau (Retd.); Wg Cdr Tirath Singh (Retd.); Sh Subhash Chander; Sh Suresh Kumar and veterans including Sh Bawa Singh; Sh Ashwani Kumar; Sh Ashok Kumar; Sh Janak Singh and Sh Rajinder Kumar were present.
