CM Omar Abdullah welcomes Rs 10,600 Cr infra push for J&K

Srinagar, June 26 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hailed the Centre’s approval of several major infrastructure projects worth 10,600 crore, saying the sanctioned tunnels and connectivity upgrades would significantly benefit the region.

“These are long-pending demands being fulfilled. The Mughal Road tunnel will ensure year-round connectivity, and the Sadhna Pass tunnel for Tangdhar is another vital link that’s finally been approved,” Omar told reporters in Srinagar, as per news agency KINS.

He further stated that while some areas like Gurez have been left out, efforts would continue to push for additional projects in the future.

Earlier speaking at the NCC event, Abdullah praised the role of the National Cadet Corps in shaping disciplined and confident youth.

“NCC builds character, discipline, patriotism, and lifelong friendships. It’s heartening that ten NCC cadets scaled Mount Everest—two of them from J&K and Ladakh, including a girl from Ladakh and a boy from Kathua,” he said.

The Chief Minister encouraged more youngsters to join the NCC and hoped the cadets visiting Kashmir would return as ambassadors of the region.

“I hope when they go back, they tell their friends and family to come and explore the beauty of Kashmir,” he added. (KINS)
