SIA Kashmir attaches property of PoJK-based LeT operative in major narco-terror case

Srinagar, May 06 (KINS): The State Investigation Agency Kashmir (SIA) on Wednesday attached immovable property belonging to a Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK)-based operative of the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in connection with a major narco-terror case.

The action relates to FIR No. 03/2023 of Police Station Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), which was initially registered by ANTF and later transferred to SIA Kashmir for specialised investigation after larger terror financing and cross-border narco-terror links surfaced during the probe.

Investigations as per officials revealed that the accused, Zameer Ahmad Lone, son of Ahmad Gul Lone and a resident of Mandiyan Keran in Kupwara, is currently operating from PoJK and is affiliated with LeT. He was actively involved in narco-terror activities aimed at disturbing peace and security in the Union Territory. The accused had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender by a competent court for evading arrest and continuing anti-national activities from across the border.

Following a detailed application filed by SIA Kashmir, the competent court, after examining the material on record, ordered the attachment of the property belonging to the absconding accused.

Acting on the court’s directions, SIA Kashmir attached immovable property measuring 01 Kanal and 14.37 Marlas under Khasra No. 113 at Mandiyan Keran, Kupwara. The proceedings were carried out by a specialised SIA team in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and local revenue officials in accordance with legal procedures.

Earlier, SIA Kashmir had filed a comprehensive chargesheet in the case, uncovering substantial evidence related to narco-smuggling, terror financing, and cross-border terror links.

The action highlights the agency’s firm resolve to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism, including terror financing and narco-terror networks operating from across the border. The SIA reiterated its commitment to taking strict legal action against individuals and entities involved in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity, and security of the nation.

The move also aligns with the broader national mission of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, under which Jammu & Kashmir continues to intensify efforts to curb drug abuse and dismantle narcotics networks that fuel terrorism, while also promoting awareness for a drug-free society.(KINS)
