Jammu, Sep 08 (KINS): The historic Kailash Kund Yatra from Dudu was flagged off amid religious fervour and enthusiastic participation of devotees, marking the beginning of the annual pilgrimage to the sacred Kailash Kund, revered as the abode of Lord Vasuki Nag.
The Yatra was flagged off by Udhampur East MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania in the presence of DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, Brigadier CRPF Manish Yadav, SDM Dudu Manmeet Singh, SHO Latti Gurnam Singh, officials, local representatives and members of the Vasuki Nag Management Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Pathania said the pilgrimage symbolised the faith and resilience of the people and called for developing the Dudu-Seoj Dhar-Bhaderwah corridor as a major pilgrimage, tourism and adventure circuit.
He said the region’s meadows, forests and mountains offered significant potential for eco-tourism, trekking and adventure activities. He also stressed the need to improve road connectivity and provide pilgrim facilities, including drinking water, sanitation, shelters, medical services and waste-management arrangements.
Pathania said development should remain environmentally sustainable and provide livelihood opportunities to local residents.
He appreciated the administration, security forces, volunteers and local residents for facilitating the pilgrimage and ensuring arrangements for devotees.(KINS)
