NC assures Sheikh-ul-Alam’s chapter to stay in textbooks

Srinagar Dec 19 (KINS): Senior National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq on Thursday assured that the chapter on revered Kashmiri saint and poet Sheikh-ul-Alam will not be removed from school textbooks.
Speaking to reporters according to news agency KINS, Sadiq stated the significance of Sheikh-ul-Alam as a prominent spiritual leader whose teachings resonate deeply with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Sheikh-ul-Alam has been a big spiritual leader. We can’t remove any of his chapters from textbooks,” he said.
The assurance came amid concerns raised by various quarters about the possible omission of the saint’s teachings from academic curriculum.
Sadiq clarified that any errors or misprints in the PDF version of the textbooks would be promptly rectified.
“If there is any misprint of the PDF file, we will rectify it,” he added, adding the commitment to preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of the region.
Sheikh-ul-Alam, also known as Nund Rishi, is a revered figure in Kashmiri history and is regarded as the founder of the Rishi movement. His poetry and teachings advocate universal brotherhood, spirituality, and environmental consciousness, making his contributions vital to the education and identity of the region. (KINS)
