Srinagar, May 20 (KINS): According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), hundreds of people, including youth and prominent workers from the National Conference (NC) and other political parties, joined the BJP during a joining programme held at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar on Wednesday.
The event was attended by BJP J&K UT General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, J&K Waqf Board Chairperson and Minister of State Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, BJP J&K UT General Secretary Mohammad Anwar Khan, and other senior party leaders.
As per the BJP, those who joined the party included Danish Riyaz Dar from the NC, Shabir Langoo, Mohd Yousuf Zargar, Vice President of Bhartiya Krishak Samaj J&K, Tariq Sofi, and Sanoor Choudhary.
Welcoming the new entrants, Ashok Koul said the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the youth, were losing faith in the ruling National Conference due to what he described as corruption, misgovernance, and failure to address public welfare and development issues.
He said the BJP was committed to transparency, development, good governance, and equal opportunities for all sections of society, adding that the increasing support for the party in Kashmir reflected people’s trust in the vision and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi and other BJP leaders also welcomed the new members and said their joining would further strengthen efforts for peace, development, and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
The newly-inducted members, according to the BJP, expressed confidence in the party leadership and said they were influenced by the BJP’s developmental initiatives and people-centric policies.(KINS)
