Srinagar, July 21 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday attended the valedictory function of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, marking the successful completion of the Union Territory-wide anti-drug campaign.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor described the completion of the 100-day campaign as a historic milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s fight against drug abuse and the narco-terror ecosystem. He said the campaign had dealt a decisive blow to drug networks, which have long been used to finance and fuel terrorism.
Sinha said the intensive campaign had evolved into a powerful Jan Andolan across all 20 districts of the Union Territory, with people from every section of society joining hands to eliminate the menace of drugs. He termed the campaign the beginning of a new era in the fight against substance abuse.
Highlighting public participation, the Lieutenant Governor said millions of people took part in padyatras, awareness drives and outreach programmes from panchayats to urban areas. He appreciated the efforts of law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations, educational institutions, youth groups and citizens for their collective contribution to making the campaign a success.
He said the movement witnessed overwhelming participation from Kupwara to Kathua, demonstrating how public involvement can strengthen the fight against drugs and create an ecosystem of awareness, care and vigilance across Jammu and Kashmir.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to combating the drug menace, Sinha asserted that no drug smuggler or narco-terrorist would find a safe haven in Jammu and Kashmir. He said strict action would continue against drug peddlers while those battling addiction would receive care, rehabilitation and support to rebuild their lives.
The Lieutenant Governor urged people, particularly the youth, to continue supporting the mission of building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir and sustain the momentum generated during the 100-day campaign.(KINS)
