Traffic resumes at Srinagar-Jammu highway, Mughal road closed

Srinagar:  Vehicular traffic was Tuesday resumed on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway on Tuesday while historic 86-km-long Mughal road remained closed for the second day.

An official said that Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) from Srinagar to Jammu  were allowed to travel.

Traffic on Srinagar Jammu highway  was suspended last evening due to landslides.

“Men and machinery were pressed into services by  Border Roads Organisation (BRO), to clear the landslides,” he said, adding that subject to weather and road conditions, Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) traffic will be allowed from here to Jammu from 1400 hrs till 2400 hrs.

However, he said, no traffic, including security force convoy, will be allowed from opposite direction.

Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, remained suspended for the second day today due to fresh snowfall.
