Prof Rafi remembered by Kashmir university’s sociology dept on first death anniversary

Srinagar: Kashmir University students and scholars of Sociology department on Tuesday paid tribute to Professor Rafi, who was killed in a gunfight on May 6.

The students assembled in the campus and spoke on the occasion on the theme “We Remember! We Resist!” which was organized in his memory by the students of the department .

Awarded with PhD by Kashmir University in November 2017, on his thesis on ‘Globalisation and Emerging Trends in Consumerism: A Comprehensive Study of Rural and Urban Kashmir’ he was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology.

Prof Muhammad Rafi Bhat from Ganderbal went missing last year after delivering his last lecture to his students.

32-year old professor was killed within 48 hours in a gunfight after he had joined the militancy.
