Casual PDD employees continue their protest

Organize sit in protest outside Chief and Div Com offices

Srinagar, Jan 6, : Hundreds of casual employees working in Power Development Department (PDD), while continuing their pen down strike and protest, demanding regularization of their services and payment of their pending wages organized a sit in outside Chief Engineer PDD and Divisional Commissioner’s office on Monday. .

According to news agency,  TDL and PDL employees working in the department assembled outside Chief Engineer PDD Office and Divisional Commissioner’s offices in Srinagar, with placards in their hands in favour of their demands of regularization and various other issues, related to their service.

The protesting employees said that they have been working in PDD for last more than ten years and a DPC regarding their engagement details  were completed on 14TH January 2109; however despite  one year having passed since then, no step has been taken  towards regularizing their services so far.

They further said that their salaries are pending from past several months and with no cash in hand; their families are starving as they have nothing to buy essentials.

They demanded immediate regularization of their services and release of their salaries, files pending in various division offices to be sent to chief office for disposal, continuation of SRO 43 and disposal of relaxation cases pending in Civil Secretariat`.

They warned that if their demands are not met forthwith, they will take their weeklong pen down strike to next level and the responsibility of all its consequences will lie on the authorities. (CNS)
