January 20: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Budgam arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized psychotropic substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established near village Kremshore intercepted an individual identified as Ajaz Ahmad Malik resident of Dreygam Khansahib. Officers at the check point have recovered 12 Kgs of cannabis powder from his possession.
A case FIR No. 05/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Khansahib. The accused has been arrested and shifted to Police station Khansahib where he remains in custody.
Initial investigation reveals that the accused is involved in supplying Charas and other psychotropic substances to the youth of Khanshab and adjoining areas.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
