Srinagar Police arrests notorious drug peddler, contraband substance recovered

Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.


Officers at a checkpoint established at Baba Dawood Khakhi Bridge intercepted a notorious drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir resident of Koolipora Khanyar. Officers during checking were able to recover 2.5Kgs Charas from his possession.


He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Khanyar where he remains in custody. 
Case FIR No. 08/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khanyar and further investigation has been taken up.


Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.


Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
