Burglars held, stolen material worth lakhs of rupees recovered by Sopore police

Srinagar April 19 (KINS): Sopore police has arrested the burglars and recovered stolen material worth lakhs of rupees from them.

A police official said during intervening night of April 19 and 19, police party of Police Station Sopore while patrolling in main town Sopore caught Burglars along with stolen items.

“On investigation it was revealed that the same burglars had stolen the grocery items from the Godown owned by a local shopkeeper located opposite Kapra theatre Sopore.  The stolen items were being ferried in a load carrier which also has been seized,” the official said.

The driver Firdous Ah sheikh son of Ab Hamid Sheikh was arrested on spot.

However the official said the other thief took advantage darkness and ran away.

“After persistent search of about 8 hours, he too was arrested who revealed his name as Imtiyaz Ah Siraj son Nazir Ah Siraj. After sustained interrogation the duo confessed their involvement in other similar cases of burglary which took place on 01 April 2020 and 05 April 2020 respectively in which around 70 bags of onion and 100 boxes of eggs were stolen. It was also revealed during questioning of the two that they sold out the stolen items to vendors in different villages of Sopore and Baramulla. Investigation in the instant case is going on and more revelations are expected,” the official said.

Sopore Police has requested the public not to buy items from unknown persons selling items much cheaper than the actual price as well as report to police if they come across any such suspicious vendor and shopkeepers.(KINS)
