DAK condemns abusive behaviour of BMO Handwara with staff, public

Doctors demand removal of BMO, threaten agitation

Srinagar, 06 June: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Saturday condemned the abusive behaviour of Block Medical Officer Handwara with staff and public, calling for an end to such conflicts amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The doctors body said it has come to fore that amid these terrible times the BMO Handwara has used demeaning, abusive and unparliamentary language with the staff of Block Handwara and public.

In a statement issued here, it said that there is no end to violence against medical staff across the hospitals in J&K at a time when they are fighting coronavirus.

DAK president of Kupwara district Dr Aejaiz Ahmad, on behalf of the employees of Medical Block Handwara has lodged a complaint in this regard in the office Directorate of Health Service Kashmir, CMO Kupwara and Deputy Commissioners Kupwara, SHO Handwara. But no action has been initiated so far.

Dr Aejaiz said that they will not tolerate such incidents of workplace harassment and can go to any extent for the safety and honour of the health care staff.

The accused officer has been transferred from the earlier places on the complaint based on his abusive behaviour and harassment at work places.

Meanwhile the doctors and paramedics in Kupwara have also condemned the abusive behaviour of the said officer against their colleagues.

They have demanded removal of the BMO  and threatened to go for agitation if the incident is not probed at the earliest.
