Three local Al-Bader militants killed in Pulwama Gunfight: Police

Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNS): The police Wednesday said three militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Tiken Village of Pulwama.
“All three local militants of Al-Badr outfit were killed in the Tiken Pulwama encounter,” the police official said.
“A joint team of Police, army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area in the wee hours of Wednesday. Militants fired on the joint team of forces when they approached towards the suspected spot, which was retaliated triggering an encounter,” the official maintained.
Meanwhile police in a statement issued to news agency KINS said that on a specific input regarding presence of militants in Tiken area of Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Pulwama Police, 55RR and 182, 183 BNs CRPF in the said area.
“During the search operation, as the presence of militants got ascertained they were given the opportunity to surrender, however, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter. Zamir Sadiq Lone in whose house the militants were hiding also received gunshot injuries and was evacuated to hospital for the treatment of his injuries where his condition is stated to be stable”.
“In the ensuing encounter, three militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. They have been identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Lone resident of Arigam Pulwama, Umer Ali resident of Dadsara Tral and Umar Farooq resident of Sugan Shopian.  All the killed militants were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr”.
“As per police records, the killed militants were part of groups involved in many crime cases including planning & executing several major attacks on security forces”.
“Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes”.(KINS)
