District Admin Srinagar designates 200 Chemist Shops for sale/ stock of Anti Tuberculosis Drugs


Step taken to provide easy access to ATT medicines, make Srinagar TB free: DC
SRINAGAR, JULY 14: The Chairman District Tuberculosis Centre/ Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar in consultation with the District Tuberculosis officer and Assistant Drug Controller, today Designated/ Notified about 200 Chemist Shops of Srinagar District for sale of Anti Tuberculosis Drugs in order to provide easy access to TB Patients for Anti Tubercular Treatment (ATT) medicines under National Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Programme.
According to the Notification issued by Assistant Drug Controller, the Srinagar District has been divided into 6 zones for stocking and sale of Anti Tuberculosis Drugs.
Accordingly, 30 Chemist Shops in Zone-I comprising areas of Nishat, Nehru Park, Dalgate, Sonwar, Lal Chowk, HSHS, Fateh Kadal, Maisuma, Gow Kadal and Khankahi Mohalla have been notified, in Zone-II comprises of Khayam, Nowpora, Munawarabad, Khanyar, Nowhata, Rainawari, Saidkadl, Nigeen, Hazratbal, Naseem Bagh, Kanitar, Lal Bazar, Alamgari Bazar, hawal, Gojwara, Rajouri Kadal, NawaKadal, Aali Kadal, Kawdara, Bohri Kadal 36 Chemist shops have been designated for stock and sale of the ATT medicines.
In Zone-III, as many as 30 Chemist Shops in the areas of Batpora, Danihama, Chatterhama, Khimber, Rangpora, New Thead, Burzhama, Gulab Bagh, Zakura and Zoonimar have been designated for sale of ATT medicines.
Similarly, in Zone-IV, 36 Chemist Shops in the areas of Karan Nagar, Nawab Bazar, Safa Kadal, Qamarwari, Chotta Bazar and Darish Kadal have been designated for the purpose while 30 Medical shops falling in areas of Batmaloo, Bemina, HMT, Shalteng, Maloora, Tengpora and Gangbugh have been kept in Zone-V.
Further, 31 Medical shops areas in Zone-VI including Rajbagh, Pantha Chowk, Sanat nagar, Hyderpora, Rawalpora, Barzulla, LD Hospital, HazariBagh, Magarmal Bagh and Opp Iqbal Park have also been notified for the sale of Anti Tuberculosis Drugs.
Meanwhile, the DC has said that the step of notifying/designating 200 chemist shops of Srinagar has been taken to provide easy access to TB Patients of the District for Anti Tubercular Treatment(ATT) medicines in order to make Srinagar TB free by this year.
The DC said every health establishment in private sector shall ensure notification of TB cases to Nodal Officer immediately, besides the parameters associated with TB notification like UDST, HIV, Diabetic Testing shall be verified by the Private Health facility and recorded in the notifying formats and in case, if any, test has not been done, the concerned private health facility should send the patient to the nearest public health facility for said tests.
Besides, the DC impressed upon other stakeholders including Private Practitioners, Diagnostic Labs etc to be in close liaison with District TB Nodal authority in connection with TB notification and latest Dos and Dont’s of TB notification so that District Srinagar is made TB free by this year.
