Srinagar, Apr 02: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a high-level meeting to assess the readiness of concerned departments and agencies for the upcoming Eid, Navratras, and Baisakhi festivals in Jammu & Kashmir.
The meeting saw the presence of key officials including Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; RR Swain, DGP; Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Armed, Law & Order; Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu; Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners; Deputy Commissioners, and senior officers of Civil and Police administration.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to personally visit prominent holy sites and ensure smooth conduct of the festivals. He stressed the importance of adhering to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines in all arrangements.
LG Sinha emphasized the necessity for robust security arrangements, efficient traffic and crowd management, identification of parking areas, availability of essential items at regulated prices, formation of inspection teams for market surveillance, uninterrupted water and power supply, provision of medical facilities, fire and emergency services, and measures for sanitation and cleanliness.
The directive aimed to ensure that residents and visitors can celebrate the festivals in a safe and conducive environment. The administration is committed to ensuring the successful conduct of these festivals, reflecting the spirit of unity and harmony in the region.
